The silly season is officially in full swing, which means it’s time to treat yourself to a few of the fantastic events and attractions in town to relax and let off some steam from another busy year. In London, the problem isn’t so much as finding things to do, but rather – narrowing down the list. We’ve gone ahead and found our favourite four things to do in the O2 area over the holidays – see how many you can tick off the list!
1. The Mudchute Winter Festive Weekend
Head to the Mudchute Farm and Park for a magical family-friendly winter festival.
Held from 11am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday Dec 8-9, this wintry celebration includes a huge array of activities for young and old. The kids can enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, storytime, a tea cup carousel, animal encounters, and the chance to meet Father Christmas himself.
For the grown ups, you can watch (and even try your hand at) blacksmithing and woodworking, and observe falconry. This is also a great spot to purchase a Christmas tree if you haven’t had a chance to yet. There will also be market stalls to pick up snacks, drinks, and a few Christmas gifts.
2. Attend a show at the O2
The O2 Arena is a world-class venue, and there are incredible performances and shows practically every single day this winter.
Michael Buble will be crooning with his famous Christmas hits on December 9 and 10, and Rod Stewart will put you in the mood to party from December 17-20.
Disney on Ice takes the stage from December 26 through til January 5 for a spectacular ice skating performance that the kids will love almost as much as the grown ups, and the Winter BBQ on December 21 is a fun mix of top DJs and delicious BBQ food.
3. Discover the best of the O2 restaurants
Butcher and the Farmer has recently launched in our newest location – right in the heart of the O2 itself.
Covering two spacious levels, our enticing restaurant, bar, and beer garden is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat before attending a show, or to stop in for a nightcap after a nearby event.
Our focus is on high-quality ingredients, seasonal produce, and inspired flavour pairings. We’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we’re ready to wow you at any time of day as one of the best new London restaurants this season.
4. Ice skating at the Queen’s House
Strap on your skates and zoom to the Queen’s House this winter for a surreal experience gliding around one of the most beautiful outdoor rinks in the world.
The rink is already open, and will remain operating every day (apart from Christmas Day) until January 12. You’ll drift around this UNESCO World Heritage Site and enjoy the views of the Thames and Greenwich Royal Park – provided you can keep your eyes off the ice in front of you.
Book online to secure a spot, and be sure to stop by Butcher and the Farmer for a hot meal and a refreshing drink after your icy excursion.
